Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
Where is ParcFarm?
ParcFarm Caravan Park is set in a rural location amongst the Clwydian Hills in beautiful North Wales. Within a short drive are the market towns of Mold and Ruthin and it is not far from Loggerheads Country Park. In fact it is within easy reach of all that North Wales has to offer; family attractions, Snowdonia, the coast and much more, making it the ideal place for you to have your holiday home.
Do you take touring caravans or tents?
We are primarily a static caravan holiday park. We have some pitches available for seasonal touring caravans (caravans that are left on the pitch for the full season). Unfortunately we do not have the facility to take short stay touring caravans or tents.
How many caravans are there on ParcFarm?
Currently we have just over 250 static caravans sited on ParcFarm. These are well spaced out on 44 acres (ParcFarm also own an extra 25 acres but this is not used for caravans) allowing each caravan to have its own private garden.
How long can I use my caravan for each year?
The park has a 10.5 month season and is open to our Caravan owners from 1st March to the 14th January each year. During the closed season we do allow you to come out and check your caravan occasionally but you are not permitted to stay in it during this time as our 'site licence' stipulates that we are a holiday park and must have a closed season of six weeks.
What information do I need to know about buying a caravan?
The most important thing you need to think about when you have made the decision to buy a holiday caravan is where you would like your holiday home to be. There are many caravan parks all over North Wales and they all offer something different. ParcFarm offers a family caravan park in a rural setting, surrounded by beautiful scenery. Other places offer an action packed holiday on a bustling caravan park.
How much will a caravan cost to buy?
Caravan prices vary considerably. A pre-owned caravan usually start from around £8,995 and for a new caravan prices start from approximately £25,995.
What other costs are there involved with buying a caravan?
When you buy a caravan there are other costs to consider. There is a siting and connection fee of £2000, which may vary if there are other aspects involved (such as requiring hire of a crane for certain pitches). There may be some transport costs to consider if you are buying a new caravan.
At ParcFarm we like to make things simple and all of these costs (subject to special circumstances) are already included in the price you see for a caravan.
How much will my caravan cost me annually?
How much will my caravan cost me annually?
There are running costs to pay each year when you have a holiday caravan sited on a caravan park.
Our site fee for 2012 is £2755 which is paid in advance in two instalments due, on 1st March and 1st October.
Rates are charged at £130.
ParcFarm also requires each caravan to be insured adequately by the caravan owner. Most of our caravan owners use the caravan park policy which is provided by Jardine Lloyd Thompson. The cost of this varies depending on the caravan you buy and the level of cover required.
Gas and electric is metered and billed to you three times a year. The gas is piped to each caravan, so there is no need to worry about changing gas bottles.
Do you only sell the caravans listed on your website?
No, the caravans listed are the caravans we currently have on site for people to view and buy. If none of these are suitable or you have a particular caravan in mind then we will be able to provide a price and information for this.
Can I bring a caravan from another caravan park onto ParcFarm?
We will accept caravans but this is subject to conditions. Contact one of our members of staff to find out details.
Can I pick my own caravan pitch?
Yes, you can pick your own pitch from those we have available, subject to availability and suitability. Secondhand caravans sold on a pitch have to remain on the same pitch.
Do I own the land my caravan is on?
No, the land your caravan is sited on is rented from ParcFarm for the duration of your licence agreement.
Can I have a decking or patio?
Yes, you can have either a UPVC decking or patio, which must comply with fire and safety regulations. When you visit ParcFarm take a look at the deckings and patio's already installed. Before any work can begin a plan must be submitted to the park owners for approval and quotes must be obtained through the ParcFarm office. We will provide you with two quotes from contractors permitted to work on ParcFarm.
Is there an age limit for caravans on ParcFarm?
There is an age limit, as there is with most caravan parks. The age limit is currently 20 years for caravans and 30 years for holiday lodges. When a caravan reaches its age limit you can either take it off site or ask ParcFarm to dispose of it for you.
Can I let my caravan out?
No, at ParcFarm we do not allow subletting. None of our caravans are available for hire and we find that this helps keep the atmosphere peaceful and tranquil.
Can my friends and family visit me?
Of course! The only thing you will have to do is make sure you are there to meet them as we have a security barrier system here at ParcFarm and only people who own a caravan can get to the main areas of the park. If you have friends or family using your caravan while you are not on site then all we ask is that they come and sign in at the office.
Do you allow pets?
We do allow pets as we realise that this is the reason many people have a caravan as it enables them to bring their pets on holiday. We would ask that you make sure dogs are kept on a lead and are supervised and of course any mess is cleared up. When you enquire we may ask you the number of pets and breed as we would refuse any animal that would be considered dangerous.
How do I find ParcFarm?
If you follow the directions on the 'how to find us' page finding ParcFarm should not be a problem. You may find satnav's are not sufficiently accurate once you are in the countryside and we would advise you to use the directions provided instead.
